THE LITTLE ROOM MESSAGEBOARD IS BACK UP
The Little Room messageboard is back up and running for those who have missed it! The forum was transferred to a new host and not surprisingly, it didn't go as smooth as I hoped. But that's all behind us now! Stop by and pick up where the conversations left off. If you have never stopped by the greatest White Stripes/Jack White related community, what are you waiting for?
"Jack White, Depeche Mode, Patti Smith and Damian Rice are among the artists on a forthcoming tribute album honoring the 20th anniversary of U2’s Achtung Baby, frontman Bono announced at a press conference this afternoon for the U2 documentary From the Sky Down at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The album was commissioned by the British music magazine Q. "Jack White does ‘Love Is Blindness,' Depeche Mode do ‘So Cruel,' Patti Smith did ‘Until the End of the World,' Damian Rice does ‘One.’ It just goes on. And it’s strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what’s wrong with it. But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought, ‘It’s really good.'"
In addition, Bono said that artist Damien Hirst recently completed a video for "Even Better Than The Real Thing." "He made a very special art work, which has only been shown once and probably won’t be shown again, because [it was for the] Glastonbury festival and it’s an extraordinary work of art."
One person asked via Twitter if they were to release a single from Achtung Baby today, which would fit best? Without hesitation, Bono answered, "'Even Better Than The Real Thing.' Now there’s a mix of it, which is stunning, called the Fish Out of Water remix, which I would like to release as a single," he said. "I’m trying to talk some people into it, even today. It has the Damien Hirst thing. Damien did his work to that mix. That’s the one we open with and end the film with."
Ewen Spencer, who has previously released Three's a Crowd, Volume I, is asking for your help to get the second volume published! A $50 donation to get the project launched, gets your name in print, in Volume II. Read below for all the details:
Three's a Crowd Volume II is the second book in the series Three's a Crowd by British photographer Ewen Spencer who spent four years between 2001 & 2005 photographing arguably the last great rock n' roll band The White Stripes during their rise to fame. The book shows exclusive and never before seen images of the elusive duo in their most intimate moments as well as capturing the raw energy of their shows, from enormous stadium concerts in Brazil to small audiences of 100 in Bristol, UK.
Following the break-up of The White Stripes earlier this year these pictures are more relevant than ever. The book is highly anticipated - help us make it happen!
What We Need & What You Get
We need $8000 to get this project off the ground. We are asking YOU for a donation of $50, and in return your name will be printed in the book as a benefactor, you receive your own limited edition copy of Three's a Crowd Volume II (the first 50 copies will be signed so get in quick!) as well as an exclusive invite to the launch party at KK Outlet, London.

"The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, a new collection of previously unheard songs by the country great recorded by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jack White, Norah Jones and Levon Helm, will be released on October 4th. The set, which will be issued on Dylan's imprint Egyptian Records, was originally conceived by veteran A&R executive Mary Martin as a Dylan-centric project, but eventually evolved into a multi-artist tribute to the late singer-songwriter.
The songs featured in the set were rescued from notebooks left behind in a leather briefcase by Williams after he died in 1953 at the age of 29. The notes contained lyrics and song ideas that were finished by the 13 artists who contributed to the disc. The full story of Williams' notebooks will be told in the album's liner notes, which were penned by Michael McCall of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
The full tracklisting for The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams is as follows:
Alan Jackson "You've Been Lonesome, Too"
Bob Dylan "The Love That Faded"
Norah Jones "How Many Times Have You Broken My Heart?" Jack White "You Know That I Know"
Lucinda Williams "I'm So Happy I Found You"
Vince Gill and Rodney Crowell "I Hope You Shed a Million Tears"
Patty Loveless "You're Through Fooling Me"
Levon Helm "You'll Never Again Be Mine"
Holly Williams "Blue Is My Heart"
Jakob Dylan "Oh, Mama, Come Home"
Sheryl Crow "Angel Mine"
Merle Haggard "The Sermon on the Mount"

UNFINISHED HANK WILLIAMS TUNE TO GET THE JACK WHITE TREATMENT
Some interesting news from Clash Music:
“I did a project with Bob Dylan: he put together 20 or 25 people to finish writing Hank Williams songs that only had lyrics and didn’t have music … I had to write music for Hank Williams’ lyrics,” White said. “I looked through all the piles of lyrics, and one of ’em just kept speaking to me. Sometimes you think it’s gonna be really hard to find my spot, and then it picks it for you. You don’t even have to choose it; it just picks it for you.”
White said the album might come out this year, but Dylan has yet to announce the full list of artists who have contributed to the project. The former White Stripes frontman gave a few clues in an interview with MTV News.
“He [Dylan] did one, asked Willie Nelson to do one, asked me to do one, and I think Lucinda Williams and Alan Jackson are on it too,” he said."
