11.18.2004 // WHITE/BENSON / JACK SPEAKS ON THE OFFICIAL SITE

It appears Jack and Brendan Benson are writing and recording an album together. Benson states:

"It's really great, man. People have got to hear it. Jack and I both sing. And it's kind of like a Lennon/McCartney thing, if I may be so bold," Benson said. "And I'm not comparing the musicianship, just the fact that we're each kind of bringing in our own songs. And we both have different sounds and aesthetics, which adds a whole other aspect to it."

This is definitely something to look forward to. To read the complete article, click here. Also, if you have never checked out Benson's material, grab his latest album, Lapalco.

In other news, Jack White has left a new message on the Official Site. So, go read it. Click here.

10.26.2004 // JOHN PEEL 1939 - 2004

Legendary UK DJ, John Peel has passed away. Peel had a hand in launching the career of many bands, including the White Stripes who appeared on his show a few times.

If it was not for the Peel Sessions, I may not have become a White Stripes fan. So.. thank you.

10.04.2004 // COFFEE AND CIGARETTES RELEASE DATE - UK

Tartan Films are delighted to announce the theatrical release of COFFEE AND CIGARETTES on October 22.

COFFEE AND CIGARETTES is a series of short films disguised as a feature (or maybe vice versa). Each sequence involves several characters just sitting around, drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and discussing subjects as diverse as caffeine popsicles, Abbott & Costello, Elvis conspiracy theories, the proper preparation of English tea, the inventions of Nikola Tesla, the fictitious rock band SQÃœRL, Paris in the twenties, and the use of nicotine as an insecticide…The cast is an extremely eclectic group of extraordinary actors and musicians portraying an equally eclectic collection of oddballs, with sequences strikingly photographed in BLACK (coffee) and WHITE (cigarettes) by Frederick Elmes, Robby Müller, Ellen Kuras and Tom DiCillo.
