VIDEO OF THE WEEK - LORETTA LYNN'S PORTLAND OREGON FEATURING JACK WHITE
In honor of Loretta Lynn opening for Jack's upcoming show at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, this week's Video of the Week just has to be Portland, Oregon. Loretta's apparently excited for the show, as she notes in a recent article in the Tennessean. "It's gonna be good to sing with him again." She's also looking forward to more than one duet with him, as she's hoping to have enough time before the show to teach White "Are You Mine," which she recorded with Ernest Tubb in 1965. "I got to thinking that this song would be good for me and Jack to do because it would go back to when I started"
margnat posted 16th February 2015 08:51:35 PM. Report It was great to see Loretta duet with Jack at his Nashville show; and the video more than hints to a cute mutual affection. Thanks for fueling my fantasy that Jack's into hot older women. "-)
JACK WHITE'S MADISON SQUARE GARDEN SHOW TO BE STREAMED LIVE
Kids, we live in an amazing time. A time where if we don't have the ability to attend a concert from our favorite artist, we can still hear the show live on our TV, iPhone, computer, etc. Pandora will be streaming live Jack's January 30th show from Madison Square Garden. The show kicks off at 9PM EST (that's 6PM PT for you West Coasters). If you can't catch it live, it will be re-broadcast in full for 72 hours.
In addition to that explosion of good news, The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper will be conducting a video interview of Jack which will premier on February 3rd.
Finally (yes, there's more!), the wonderful folks at Third Man Records have hand picked a "mixtape" for Pandora listeners. Check it out here and enjoy!
JACK WHITE, BRINGING TOGETHER MUSIC AND SPORTS
On the heels of the Topps announcement of Jack's First Pitch insert card, ESPN has recognized him as an iconoclast bringing together music and sports, calling him an "indie emissary to the sporting world". Who would have guessed the Seven Nation Army chant would lead to this?
Check out his first pitch last summer at Comerica Park in Detroit--
TOPPS TO ISSUE JACK WHITE BASEBALL CARD
As a former baseball card collector and current baseball fanatic (go Reds!), I was happy to hear this news. A Jack White "First Pitch" baseball card will be scattered throughout packs of 2015 Topps Series 1. According to a Topps spokesperson, there is a suggested retail price of $1.99 per pack for Series 1 cards sold. There are 10 cards per pack, 36 packs per box. So start rippin' open those packs! Best of luck!
VIDEO OF THE WEEK- BLUE VEINS AT AUSTIN CITY LIMITS
This week's video of the week goes out to the Little Room's very own macwacky! The Raconteurs gig at Austin City Limits in 2006 was notable for this performance of Blue Veins-- No copper mic and no harmonica mic because the Green Machine guitar hadn't yet gone through its Frankenstein transformation, but this performance is still a killer.
macwacky posted 15th January 2015 11:09:15 AM. Report the first thing I ever recorded with a DVR. and the first thing I accidentally deleted. I I love when Jack coaxes some howl out of the pre-Green Machine after the false start
VAULT #23: FINALLY! CELEBRATING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF GET BEHIND ME SATAN
If you haven't heard about the next Vault package yet, get yourself over to Third Man Records and check out the details. And if you're not a Platinum member of the Vault yet, this is the package to subscribe for!! Fans have been waiting with varying levels of patience for Get Behind Me Satan to be released on vinyl and it seems this year, the 10th anniversary, might be when it'll finally happen. Third Man is both teasing and satisfying us first, though, with a Vault package entirely dedicated to that record and a magnificent show that took place on the 2005 tour in Manaus, Brazil.
macwacky posted 15th January 2015 11:13:57 AM. Report quite a highlight of the magnificent 2005 Glastonbury set. Meg was particularly lively and upbeat that night. This is one of my favorite Screwdrivers, a showcase for their intuitive interplay. I think whomever directed this truly captured that.
LAZARETTO ENDS THE YEAR WITH SALES OF OVER 150,000 ULTRA LPS
It was just over two weeks ago that the Lazaretto Ultra LP was reported to have sales of 75,700 copies. Since then, it's sold an additional 11,000 copies, giving it a total sales figure of 86,707 copies sold in the United States, according to SoundScan, and over 150,000 copies world-wide. And per the latest news from Third Man, it's a record that's broken a few more records:
- Highest one-year vinyl sales of the Sounscan era (and remember- It was just released in June!)
- Highest first-week vinyl sales, with 40,000 copies
- And don't forget, the World's Fastest Record!
Top that off with three, count 'em, THREE Grammy nominations and there's no denying that Lazaretto is a record for the record books.
