On June 25th, Jack and Meg played a show in Whitehorse, Yukon. What you may not have known is earlier in the day, the band showed up at LePage park in downtown Whitehorse and did a surprise six song set. Click yourself on over to the downloads page and grab the early show as well as the late show. Oh, while you're there, grab the new video I put up of the band on Jools Holland earlier this month performing Icky Thump. Enjoy!
Also, there is a short CNN video on the band and their gig at Icky Thump Records. Check out that video here.
For those wondering, Jack and Meg scored a #2 position on the Billboard charts. The duo sold 223,000 albums, their biggest chart debut to date. 2005's Get Behind Me Satan opened at #3 with 189,000 sold and 2003's Elephant sold 125,900 copies, to debut at #6.
Just a little friendly reminder, if you still need tickets to any upcoming White Stripes shows, visit the tour page and click on the "buy" links next to the show you want to attend. Purchasing tickets via that link gets you White Stripes tickets and also helps out this website. I get a small cut of each sale, which I put towards the costs of this website. Thanks!
Word has it, that Jack and Meg, who are in Burnaby, BC tonight, played a side show earlier today at the Creekside Youth Center. What makes this interesting is they used the same stage set up as they did 10 years ago to commemorate their 10 year anniversary. Once I get the details of the side show, I will let you all know. I am sure this was quite interesting!
According to a post in the Little Room, this was the setlist:
When I Hear My Name
Cannon/John The Revelator/Cannon
Jack The Ripper
Ball And Biscuit
Fell In Love With A Girl (slower)
Also, according to the White Stripes newsletter, Icky Thump Records will be open for a limited time:
"Weren't able to get tickets to the performance at Icky Thump Records last night? Well, if you haven't bought your copy of the new record yet and are interested in picking up some merchandise that was available at the show, Icky Thump Records will be open for a limited time just for you! Located at the site of the old Tower Records in West Hollywood, CA, it will be open for a couple of hours starting at 5:30 pm today and tomorrow as well as noon on Saturday. We have limited quantities of shirts, buttons and posters available so be sure to get yours before they run out."
The new version of the FAQ is now available. Version 6 has a ton of newly updated information. I want to thank Twitch for maintaining this beast. If you are not familiar with the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) check it as it may answer all your burning questions. The FAQ is located on the Band Info page of the website.
The White Stripes first ever live DVD, "Under Blackpool Lights" is out today in stores everywhere. Many overseas fans have already gave glowing reviews of the DVD on the Little Room messageboard. If you are the type of shopper who prefers to order online, you may do so on the Official Site.
I am very busy with life in general lately so my apologies for the lack of updates. However, I have been thinking about the next update to the downloads page. So keep your eyes peeled for some new goodies to grab.
