11.01.2008 // JACK WHITE + THOM YORKE?

Various news outlets are reporting that Jack White is interested in recording with Thom Yorke of Radiohead once Jack's neck injury is healed up. Here is what they are saying:

"Jack White will hit the studio with Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke as soon as he is fully recovered from his neck injury. The White Stripes singer is suffering from a slipped disc and has been ordered to rest for two months. But he reveals Yorke will be the first person he calls when he's ready to perform again - and he's already got a few songs ready. He says, "We've known each other for a while now. But the doctors said I couldn't perform for two months. I've been writing a lot instead."

09.12.2008 // JACK TALKS TO MERCURY NEWS

A snippet of the interview from mercurynews.com:

"Q: How does your involvement in the Raconteurs affect the White Stripes?

A: We weren't sure at first. In the normal business sense it would have been crazy to put aside this successful band and go start a new one. And it is hard in ancillary ways. For instance, I played some shows with Meg in the middle of a Raconteurs tour, and stopping the train and getting into a whole different set of songs was difficult. But now we just say, "This is a White Stripes year'' and "This is a Raconteurs year.''

08.22.2008 // MORE ON THE JAMES BOND THEME

From rollingstone.com:

"Jack White has finally given some insight into his James Bond theme collaboration with Alicia Keys . Discussing 'Another Way to Die,' the theme for the upcoming Quantum of Solace, White said 'After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys , it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen. Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape. Very inspiring to watch.' White went on to say that the famed Memphis Horns, as well as some of 'Nashville's finest,' were also involved in the recording. 'We wanted to push soul into those tapes, and join the family of Barry, Bassey, Connery and Craig,' White said, referring to Bond actors and composers of the past."

07.18.2008 // BILLY BOB DIGS JACK

So, when times are slow in White Stripes-land, you either get no news, or you get off the wall, obscure stuff. Today, you get obscure. It appears the actor and former boyfriend of Angelina Jolie is a big fan of Jack and the White Stripes. Billy Bob was interviewed recently and had this to say:

"G: Who else do you think is doing good work?

T: I respect Jack White (of the White Stripes) a lot because he respects the history of music. The fact that he knows where it comes from - that's one of the most important things. He's listening to Billie Holiday. A lot of kids - 20, 19 - they think a classic rock band is Cinderella. They don't go back in history enough, and their music is not coming from a place of knowledge."

07.11.2008 // JACK PENS A POEM ABOUT DETROIT

It appears Jack wanted to get his true feelings about his hometown of Detroit out in the open:

"I have driven slow,
three miles an hour or so,
through Highland Park, Heidelberg, and the
Cass Corridor.
I've hopped on the Michigan,
and transferred to the Woodward,
and heard the good word blaring from an
a.m. radio.
I love the worn-through tracks of trolley
trains breaking through their
concrete vaults,
As I ride the Fort Street or the Baker,
just making my way home."

Read the entire poem here.

I want to thank Stripeydave who gave me that excellent Raconteurs live show that's currently on the downloads page to share with you all. I should have given him credit a month ago. You should thank him as well, log on to the Little Room messageboard and give Stripeydave a pat on the back!

06.04.2008 // JACK WHITE TALKS TO MATT PINFIELD

Jack White recently spoke with Matt Pinfield from 101.9 in New York about the new Raconteurs album, Consolers of the Lonely. This is a great four part in studio interview that also touches on the future of the White Stripes. In part four, Jack talks about the Conquest sessions with Beck and states "We had a few other songs that we didn't get to that Meg and I want to get to later on. When we're done touring the Raconteurs' album I'll get back with Meg." The full interview can be found here, on the right hand side of the web page. Enjoy!

Best news I have heard all day.
