USA Today spoke with both Jack White and Patti Page regarding the White Stripes decision to cover Page's hit, Conquest, from 1952:|
"Patti Page can't imagine what possessed the White Stripes' Jack White to record a new version of Conquest, her flamenco-style hit from 1952.
"Nobody else picked that song, except me and Jack," says Page, who also had early '50s hits with Tennessee Waltz and You Belong to Me. "I wondered what we both saw in it."
