RE: JACK WHITE TO HONOR PAUL MCCARTNEY AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Jack White playing for Sir Paul McCartney at the White House. Should be interesting! Here's the info found on Pitchfork:

"On June 2, Jack White will paint the White House, uh, white. White is among the luminaries paying tribute to Sir Paul McCartney, who has been awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. McCartney will be presented the award during a special concert at the White House's East Room. In addition to White, the show's lineup also includes Elvis Costello, Dave Grohl, White House fave Stevie Wonder, Emmylou Harris, um, the Jonas Brothers, and others.

Many of the folks on that bill will perform songs that McCartney wrote. Jerry Seinfeld will also offer remarks ("Did you ever notice that Paul McCartney is a great songwriter and performer?").

The Washington, DC PBS station WETA will tape the performance, and it will air July 28 on PBS stations around the country as part of the "In Performance at the White House" series.

McCartney is only the third person to win the Gershwin Prize; he follows Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder."
