09.29.2005 // NEW MESSAGE FROM JACK / NEW SINGLE INFO |
|
|
Jack has left a new message over at the Official Site regarding a very cool new item that you can purchase at their live shows. Check it out.
Also, according to MTV.com, The Denial Twist will be the next single off the album:
"
The White Stripes are reuniting with director Michel Gondry, and to celebrate, they've assembled a crew of characters that's, well, pretty darn Gondry-esque.
A cast of little people, giants, roadies, stagehands and one solitary Conan O'Brien
will join the Stripes in their Gondry-helmed video for the song "The Denial Twist." It's the first collaboration between the band and the French auteur since 2003's "The Hardest Button to Button" (see "The Story Behind The White Stripes' 'Hardest Button': Lens Recap" ), and their fourth time working together overall."

09.26.2005 // CONEY ISLAND, NY SHOW REVIEW |
|
|
Taken from the NY Times:
"
The White Stripes, in general, are proof that a craftsman's trust in his materials sets him into a greater loop of trust. When the system's really working, the craftsman trusts his craft; those who behold the craft trust the craft and the craftsman. It keeps going around and around, and even if the craft's unstated rules seem inexplicably to change, the beholders keep trusting."

09.16.2005 // LOUISVILLE, KY SHOW REVIEW |
|
|
From the Louisville Courier-Journal:
" While the White Stripes, a mere duo, may seem unlikely candidates for rock superstardom, their sold-out show Tuesday night at the Louisville Palace showcased many reasons that so many have jumped on their bandwagon.
Having earlier this year released their most ambitious album, the heavily produced (by their standards) "Get Behind Me Satan," the Stripes seemed ready for a big step up. Longtime fans had to wonder how the "band" would reproduce on stage the elaborate arrangements from the new record."

09.14.2005 // MTV - CINCINNATI REVIEW |
|
|
From MTV.com:
"CINCINNATI — If there was a top-5 list of things rock bands don't normally do during shows, it might look something like this:
1) Play for 40 minutes, then leave the stage and come back for an encore even longer than the first
set.
2) Dress the lead singer in a toreador suit, white makeup and Zorro hat.
3) Let the vocally challenged drummer sing snippets of the same warbly tune three times during the show — then let her take center stage for yet another song.
4) Perform a song with just marimba and maracas, and another with mandolin and tambourine.
5) Tell a rambling five-minute story about a dream you had that involves bullies on a city bus helping themselves to more than their share of your supersized cherry danish, which later re-materializes and multiplies into several danishes after some punks on the street agree to share.
6) And a bonus item: Don't play "the hit."

Correction: MTV got the danish incorrect. It was a cheese danish, not a cherry one! Sorry, I had to correct them. That was bugging me.

09.13.2005 // CINCINNATI, OHIO SHOW |

Jack and Meg did not disappoint last night in Cincinnati. Meg stepped out from behind the drums a few times to take vocals on Passive Manipulation (three times) and In The Cold, Cold Night. 09.01.2005 // SHOW SOLD OUT? NO PROBLEM |
|
|
If a show is sold out that you really would like to go to, you can buy tickets through my website from ticketsnow.com. This is a great way to see the band you love and support this website. I get a small percentage from each sale. That money will help cover the costs of running this website. The links are located in the tour section, here.
