11.30.07 // WHITE STRIPES - FROM THE BASEMENT SESSION
You are only getting one day's notice, but hey, it's better than nothing right!?
Tomorrow, December 1st, Jack and Meg's "From the Basement" session that originally appeared online
will be broadcast on the Sky Arts channel at 9PM. Those who have access to this channel, fire up your DVR's and TiVo's.
11.23.07 // DOWNLOADS BACK ONLINE - NEW SHOW ADDED
Well, it appears I may have found a new home for the media on the downloads page. I am putting it back together in stages, so right now, the only new item that is up there is an old interview/performance that the band did on WDET in Detroit all the way back in 1999. If you only grab one track from this session, get Dead Leaves. This is an early version of the hit single, which did not appear on an album until White Blood Cells.
As long as there are no hiccups with this batch of downloads, I will start adding new material to the page. If all goes well, I will start adding new shows regularly.
Seems Jack and Meg have been busy as of late. Here's some exciting news from the Official White Stripes Newsletter:
"The White Stripes have been busy making a video for "Conquest", their third single. Directed by prolific music videographer Diane Martel, the video was shot over two days in Artesia, California. Filmed with a visual urgency that brings the song's Spanish themes, frantic horns and compulsive pounding rhythm to life, the video follows an explosive - if unconventional - love story that pits man against bull in the ultimate conquest. To make his performance as authentic as possible, Jack White trained extensively with famed bullfighter Dennis Borba. The video will premiere on MTV on November 26th and will be available on iTunes from November 27th.
"Conquest" will also be released as a single; stunningly packaged and featuring three exclusive new tracks across three 7" vinyl formats - one black, one white and one red colored vinyl. Jack and Meg recently recorded the new tracks with Beck, who co-produced all three tracks during a recording session in his living room and also contributed vocals and piano to "It's My Fault For Being Famous" and slide guitar on "Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap".
Inspired by the "Conquest" video, each single will also include a Mondo Toro trading card featuring the legendary, near-mythical matadors El Sloth, El Bianca Rosa and El Perdador. Despite being from early 1900's Spain and Portugal, these bullfighters look strangely familiar. US copies of these singles will also include a different poster with each release.
These vinyl singles will be released in the US on December 18th and in the UK on December 31st. Full track listings are listed below:
7" One (Black vinyl)
A: Conquest
B: It's My Fault For Being Famous
7" Two (White vinyl)

Just got some very exciting news via the White Stripes official newsletter! Here's what they had to say:
"Hello,
The White Stripes have just filmed an exciting new video and recorded three never before heard original songs (with a special collaboration) and one unique new version of a song from their latest album "Icky Thump".
Stay tuned for more details about release dates of the songs and the premiere of the video!
Thanks,
The White Stripes Newsletter team"
Oh, and please read the post right below this. If you can help out, please email me. Thanks!
If anyone has ventured over to the downloads page, you would have noticed, the downloads are... well, down. The very nice guy who let me store the media on his college account (so I didn't have to pay for the huge bandwidth fees) has graduated. So, I am back at square one for the time being. I am looking for alternative ways to store the media, so I can put them back up for download. I can't store them here because the cost would be through the roof. Anyway's, I am asking you all for a little help. Do you know anyone who would be willing to host my media for me? It would be greatly appreciated. If someone would be willing to do this, I will vow to update the downloads page on a more frequent basis for all you crazy White Stripes fans.
If you can help, please shoot me an email. Thanks!
A cryptic message was sent out today via the White Stripes official newsletter. The subject of the email was simply, "?". The message stated the following:
"The tricks of today are the truths of tomorrow." - Man Ray X XV MMVII
Interesting. Well, X XV MMVII = 10.15.2007 which = this.
Oh, how I want one! C'mon into the Little Room and join the discussion going on about this, here.
Check out this month's edition of Total Guitar magazine. You'll find Jack on the cover as well as an interview from him inside. This magazine is based out of the UK, but US residents may be able to track down a copy at Borders or Barnes and Noble. If you have no luck, you can order a copy here.
It appears new Stripey merchandise has made it's way into the official store, thanks to the fine folks at the official newsletter for spreading the news:
"We've added more items to the web store! Check out the new T-shirts, buttons, stickers, sewing kits and 7" versions of "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)".
"White showed up with an electric guitar and sang "Meet Me in the Morning," a song from Dylan's Blood on the Tracks album. After White provided the lead vocals for most of the song, Dylan joined him at the microphone for the final verse."
I apologize for posting this so late. I have been out of town and unable to update the website. For those who have not heard, the upcoming tour dates in the US as well as the UK have been cancelled due to Meg's acute anxiety. She is unable to travel at this time. This is taken from the official White Stripes website:
"The White Stripes have canceled all remaining tour dates through the end of the year, this includes all dates in the UK this Fall. They thank you for your understanding and well wishes.
Fans can obtain refunds for their tickets at point of purchase, except for Austin City Limits Festival which is nonrefundable due to it being a festival. If you purchased your tickets for any of the canceled shows via a fan pre-sale on the band's web site, please email tix@musictoday.com for refunds.
The White Stripes sincerely apologize to their fans.
"We hate to let people down and are very sorry."
