11.18.04 // WHITE/BENSON / JACK SPEAKS ON THE OFFICIAL SITE

 

It appears Jack and Brendan Benson are writing and recording an album together. Benson states:

"It's really great, man. People have got to hear it. Jack and I both sing. And it's kind of like a Lennon/McCartney thing, if I may be so bold," Benson said. "And I'm not comparing the musicianship, just the fact that we're each kind of bringing in our own songs. And we both have different sounds and aesthetics, which adds a whole other aspect to it."

11.13.04 // DVD NEWS FROM THE OFFICIAL SITE

 

The Official Site has been updated with the following news:

Jack and Meg release their first ever live DVD entitled "Under Blackpool Lights"

Shot on 8 and 16mm film, this footage documents the raw energy of an entire Stripes' gig, filmed in Blackpool England January 2004. the DVD includes over 25 songs including album tracks from all 4 White Stripes albums as well as rare and previously unreleased material. XL Recordings will release the DVD on November 22nd while V2 Recordings will have it in stores on December 7th.

For those of you in the UK, to coincide with the DVD release in the UK, XL Recordings will also release a limited 7inch single for 'Jolene - Live Under Blackpool Lights' in the UK on November 15th.

For those of you in the US, starting November 23rd, get a sneak peak of the footage for Jolene, Seven Nation Army, and Hotel Yorba and buy all 3 songs at iTunes.

The DVD has been transferred to film for a tour of cinemas around both the UK and the US. Find out where to see 'Under Blackpool Lights' on the big screen here:

The White Stripes get set to release another single, the live favourite and Dolly Parton cover, 'Jolene - Live Under The Blackpool Lights' , on November 15. The single was recorded as part of a show recorded in Blackpool's Empress Ballroom earlier in January this year and is included in The White Stripes first ever DVD release, 'The White Stripes Under Blackpool Lights' , due for release on November 22.
