07.01.07 // BRAND SPANKIN' NEW DOWNLOADS

On June 25th, Jack and Meg played a show in Whitehorse, Yukon. What you may not have known is earlier in the day, the band showed up at LePage park in downtown Whitehorse and did a surprise six song set. Click yourself on over to the downloads page and grab the early show as well as the late show. Oh, while you're there, grab the new video I put up of the band on Jools Holland earlier this month performing Icky Thump. Enjoy!

Also, there is a short CNN video on the band and their gig at Icky Thump Records. Check out that video here.

06.27.07 // CHART POSITION / CONCERT TICKETS

For those wondering, Jack and Meg scored a #2 position on the Billboard charts. The duo sold 223,000 albums, their biggest chart debut to date. 2005' Get Behind Me Satan opened d at #3 with 189,000 sold and 2003's Elephant sold 125,900 copies, to debut at #6.

Just a little friendly reminder, if you still need tickets to any upcoming White Stripes shows, visit the tour page and click on the "buy" links next to the show you want to attend. Purchasing tickets via that link gets you White Stripes tickets and also helps out this website. I get a small cut of each sale, which I put towards the costs of this website. Thanks!

06.24.07 // BACK IN TIME

Word has it, that Jack and Meg, who are in Burnaby, BC tonight, played a side show earlier today at the Creekside Youth Center. What makes this interesting is they used the same stage set up as they did 10 years ago to commemorate their 10 year anniversary. Once I get the details of the side show, I will let you all know. I am sure this was quite interesting!

According to a post in the Little Room, this was the setlist:

When I Hear My Name
Cannon/John The Revelator/Cannon
Astro
Jack The Ripper
Do
unknown song
Ball And Biscuit
Fell In Love With A Girl (slower)
Black Math
Screwdriver

06.20.07 // WEBCAST TONIGHT / NY GIG REVIEW

Don't forget the live webcast tonight from Icky Thump Records in Los Angeles, CA. You can find the webcast here.

Last night Jack and Meg rocked New York's Fillmore East and Rolling Stone has a great write up on the event. Check out the full review of the show here.

Below are some random reviews of Icky Thump, which I have to say, after repeated listens ranks at or near the top of my list of favorite Stripes albums. I was hooked after the 1st listen with the playfully rockin' "Rag and Bone" taking the lead as my favorite track off the album. Two thumbs up and if I had an extra one, I would throw that up as well.

06.15.07 // ICKY THUMP RECORDS

Talk about slick promotion. Check this news article out regarding the band and the old Tower Records store in Los Angeles:

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Tower Records may be dead, but its flagship outlet in Los Angeles still has some relevance to the music industry.

Rock duo the White Stripes will perform a free show for about 200 fans next Wednesday at an "Icky Thump Records" store specially built on the landmark Sunset Strip site, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The ersatz store takes its name from the band's new album, "Icky Thump," which goes on sale in the United States next Tuesday.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. PDT show will be made available to the first 200 people who buy the album at the store after midnight on Monday. A handful of tickets will also be given away this weekend through a radio station."

In this month's issue of Mojo Magazine (Bob Marley on the cover) you will find an extensive interview with the band. I have added the full Mojo interview, as well as the latest article from The Age to the articles section. Check it out.

And finally, one more show added to the tour, also per the newsletter:

"The White Stripes will be playing a special show at London's Rivoli Ballroom on Tuesday, June 12th. Set in Crofton Park, The Rivoli Ballroom is one of London's last remaining ballrooms and with the original decor from the 1950's still intact, offers fans a way to see Jack and Meg perform in a more intimate and incredible setting.

06.06.07 // RAG AND BONE SINGLE NOW ON iTUNES

You can now purchase the Rag and Bone single on iTunes by clicking here. Personally, I am going to wait until the album comes out before I hear anything other than Icky Thump, the first single. I love the element of surprise. I love hearing one of your favorite band's new album for the first time as a whole. I did peak and listen to the 30 second clip on iTunes and I have to say, I am that much more excited about this album. Rag and Bone sounds uniquely amazing. So, that's my story. If you decide to purchase the single, how about dropping by the Little Room to give us your take on it.

Is it June 19th yet?

06.05.07 // JACK WHITE: JUNK COLLECTOR

Here is a pretty good interview with Jack from Dose.ca. It shows a different side of Jack. Here is a snippet:

"They say one man's junk is another man's treasure -- and White Stripes frontman Jack White is a rich man because of it.

While most of the world has abandoned desolate locals, such as Canada's Great North, he finds them luxuriant in adventure. Other musicians are keen to upgrade to the latest, greatest, technological toys, but White captures his treasured, reverb-soaked, guitar tones on long-abandoned tape reels. Many have tossed out antique furniture in favour of cheap Ikea wares, but White spent his youth working as an upholsterer, restoring pieces to prosperity and leaving secret pieces of art stored in their bellies. Call him the greatest rock 'n' roll junk collector of all time."

06.03.07 // BLACKBOOK MAGAZINE / JOOLS HOLLAND

Blackbook Magazine has a great cover story on our favorite twosome, on newsstands now. Here is a little teaser:

"Meg White–wistful, sylphlike–smokes as her more vocal bandmate Jack White talks. He has a habit of talking over her, sometimes for her–out of a genuine affection for her and a practical sense of what would sound funny coming out of her mouth, especially when he's talking about something that interests him. This is a key factor to consider when looking at their curious relationship, because just about everything on, beneath, inside, or above the planet interests Jack White, who turns 32 in July: “I mean, can they just not get the bricks like they used for the old buildings anymore?"

For more of the cover story you can visit Blackbook's website here, or for the full version run out and and grab a copy of the magazine.

For those who missed it, Jack and Meg performed on Later with Jools Holland on Friday, June 1st. They played the songs below and also did an interview. Click the links below for You Tube videos of their performance.

06.02.07 // THE AGE: INTERVIEW

Check out this four page interview with Jack and Meg from The Age:

"Why has the world's edgiest rock band moved to Nashville? Have they rejected rock'n'roll? D.G. Strong asks frontman (and new dad) Jack White if he's crossing over from hip to hicksville.

Jack and Meg White might the coolest rock stars in the world. But ensconced in what has to be the stodgiest, old-lady-est hotel room in Nashville, Tennessee, it's hard to see it. I'm sure this is someone's idea of elegant, but if ever a hotel suite needed a good rock'n'roll trashing, this one is it. Bilious pea-green carpet, poppy-strewn curtains, a chintz bedspread."
