01.22.06 // NEW INTERVIEW FROM DOWN UNDER

Jack talks to The Australian backstage at the 2006 Big Day Out:

"THERE'S something resolutely simple about the White Stripes. Two people. Drums and guitars. Red and white. Rock'n'roll. One could add brother and sister, or former husband and wife, or man and woman, but only the last reference would be certain. The truth of their past remains somewhat shrouded.

Their present -- and their presence -- however, is big and bold. We're sitting backstage at the first 2006 Big Day Out, in Auckland, in the White Stripes' dressing-room. In one sense it's a Portakabin like any other, one of the many dotted around the artist village that this year hosts the likes of Iggy and the Stooges (Detroit's most infamous rock legends), Franz Ferdinand and Kings of Leon, among many others. Yet inside it's clear this particular dressing-room couldn't belong to anyone else."

01.19.06 // MORE ON THE SIMPSONS APPEARANCE

Details of the upcoming Simpson's appearance from MTV.com:

"In the episode, titled "Jazzy and the Pussycats," Jack and Meg White find themselves in the middle of a family feud when Homer and Marge buy a drum kit for Bart, who becomes a jazz drummer, much to the dismay of his musically inclined sister, Lisa. In one scene — an homage to the Stripes' clip for "The Hardest Button to Button" (see "The Story Behind The White Stripes' 'Hardest Button': Lens Recap" ) — Bart bashes his kit in his bedroom, down the street, through the halls of Springfield Elementary and into an intersection, where he meets up with the Detroit duo."

01.19.06 // THE RACONTEURS 7" SINGLE

Looks like we may be seeing a special 7" single from Jack's new band, the Raconteurs really soon. This is taken from the band's page at XL-Recordings.com:

"Jack White, Brendon Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler are The Raconteurs. To quote Jack, " It's a whole new band - a dual attack with dual guitars, dual vocals, and dual songwriting". Look out for a very limited 7" in the shops at the start of February."

01.14.06 // JACK AND MEG ROLL INTO SPRINGFIELD

Jack and Meg will make a guest apperance on the Fox animated series, The Simpsons! From NME.com:

"The White Stripes are set to guest star in The Simspsons .

Duo Jack and Meg White will provide their voices and appear in an episode in the new season of the long-running cartoon.

Appearing alongside Homer , Bart and co has been a long-held desire of drummer Meg White .

"A guest appearance would be amazing," Meg said in March 2003, adding, "I wouldn't want to be in a Lisa episode. They're kind of boring. Maybe a Homer one would be better."

The band will join the likes of New Journalism pioneer and author Tom Wolfe and 24 star Kiefer Sutherland , who are also set to feature in the forthcoming season, Hollywood.com reports."

01.09.06 // JAPANESE TOUR POSTPONED

From the Official White Stripes Newsletter:

"The White Stripes are unfortunately postponing their upcoming Japanese tour dates because Jack White is suffering from an acute vocal cord problem.

As part of his treatment, the doctors have instructed Jack not to speak or sing for the next 2 weeks.

We sincerely apologize to our Japanese fans and friends and hope to reschedule dates as soon as we can. For our friends in New Zealand and Australia, the band looks forward to seeing you at the Big Day Out.

Thanks,
The White Stripes newsletter team"
