Jackson is set to record a new album with White as the producer. They first will record a single for digital release before completing an album.

“One of the biggest stars on the planet I guess right now,” she said of White during her phone interview with Gene.

A singer-songwriter, pianist, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, White is one-half of the garage rock revivalist duo The White Stripes, which he founded in 1997 with then-wife Meg White. He also leads two other alternative rock bands, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather."

10.31.2009 // JACK ON THE FUTURE OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

From Ireland Online:

"Musician Jack White today claimed the music industry was in a “dying era”, and told how artists now had to use “trickery” to make money.

The White Stripes and The Raconteurs frontman said every meeting he had with labels was “depressing” and in 10 years’ time it would be difficult for bands to make a living.

The US star – in London with his band The Dead Weather – explained groups needed to reach out to young fans who had grown up downloading music."

There's much more to this, which you can find here.

10.19.2009 // JACK'S SURPRISE LECTURE IN DUBLIN

The students at Dublin's Trinity College got quite the surprise last night, per NME.com:

"The White Stripes' Jack White gave a surprise lecture at Dublin's Trinity College last night (October 18).

Leaving aside his guitar, White engaged in a highly philosophical discussion, where he talked candidly about his musical beliefs. Students who were expecting a straightforward interview seemed surprised by White’s sophisticated engagement with philosophy, and theories on anxiety and authenticity."

I do have to point out Jack revealed some interesting yet unexpected news regarding his early band, The Upholsters:

"In an unexpected twist, the guitarist also revealed the existence of a hidden run of EPs, made with his former band The Upholsterers, back when White used to work in an upholstery shop in Detroit.

The records were recorded on clear vinyl, encased in a transparent covering and hidden in 100 pieces of furniture that he upholstered.

"They could be records that will never be found, ever," he teased the student audience."

Another article from Hot Press on last night's lecture can be found here.
